Carpeted in about every shade of green
possible, wreathed over by a gauzy stole of thin white mist- Coorg is not
just a dream destination of a travel agent but a destination that is a dream
come true. Spread in 1,593 square miles of undulating topography Coorg's
grounds are ornamented with waterfalls, deep ravines, paddy fields, sloping
glades and grassy downs. However the cherry to the cake is added by the
crisp air-conditioned weather.
See & Do
Coorg has been well exploited by the honeymooners and
is no more a better-kept secret of the south. This hill station is becoming
a back-packer's paradise.
Madikeri Fort - This fort was originally a mud fort which was later
rebuilt with stone by Tipu Sultan. Inside the fort, there is the palace of
Lingayat rulers which is a great reflection of the past.
Raja's Seat - This used to be the the favourite spot of the Kodagu
kings where they used to view the many- splendoured sunrises and sunsets.
The emerald valleys, parrot-green paddy fields were the other mesmerising
views.
Abbi Falls - This beautiful waterfall is about 5 km from Madikeri is
a big attraction of the tourists and the filmdom. The chirping of
innumerable birds which are easier heard then seen, fill the air with sweet
music.
Omkareshwara Temple - Built by Kodagu King Lingaraja in 1820, this
temple is very significant for its shape and style. The central dome and
four minarets look quite impressive. A large tank in front of the temple
enhances the beauty and the serenity of the entire atmosphere.

a trekker's paradise. One can enjoy trekking up and down the hills, through

Coorg will get subdued if one plans to ramble across the place empty
stomach. In Coorg there is no dearth of good and affordable eating places.
