The clean fresh mountain air, the verdant hills and valleys and the vast stretches of lush green tea gardens makes Darjeeling the queen of all the hill stations of India. The real magical aura is provided to the land by the 8,586 -m Mt. Kanchenjunga that leaves the tourists senses intoxicated.

Tiger Hill - The Tiger Hill is located at about 11 km from Darjeeling and is popular for its panoramic dawn views over Kanchenjunga and other eastern Himalayan peaks. If the weather is pleased with you then you can be blessed with the awe inspiring sight of the Mount Everest.

Senchal Lake - Close to the Tiger Hill, lies the Senchal Lake, which supplies Darjeeling with its water from its 8,031-ft perch.

Kanchejunga Views - Kanchenjunga is the third highest and one of the world's most beautiful mountain peaks in the world. Clothed in beautiful monsoon mists, there is always the off chance that a brilliant sunset may bring its elusive image in view.

Bhutiya Busty Gompa - A colourful monastery whose library holds the original copy of the Tibetan Book of the Dead.

Ghoom Ghumpa - This is also a very famous monastery of Darjeeling.

Observatory Hill - It is a site which is sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists and a Kali temple is also located here.

Bengal Natural History Museum - The museum houses a rich collection of Himalayan and Bengali fauna and holds about 4300 specimens out of which the estuarine crocodile is the most famous.

Dhirdham Temple - This temple is modelled on the famous Pashupatinath temple of Kathmandu.

» Check out the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute exclusively for the museum inside it which contains rare mementos from various mountaineering expeditions.

» Enjoy the toy train ride as it is a major attraction of Darjeeling. Ride it and remember it so that you can recount it to others.

» The land for Lloyd Botanic Garden of Darjeeling was gifted to the state government by Mr William and the tourists come here to view the Rock Garden, Orchid House, Living Fossil Plants etc.

» You'd love to be at the Mall Road and relax at Chowrasta, the centre of the Darjeeling town. Take a stroll here to soak up everything that this place has to offer.

» Enjoy the sip of the garam chai in Darjeeling which is famous for its chai industry.

Who plans to return from Darjeeling without a tea packet? I guess no one, because the fragrance of tea of this place rules the senses. Golden-tipped Orange Pekoe is one of the best varieties of tea to look for.

The Manjusha Emporium is famous for the Himalayan handicrafts, silk and hand woven items.

The Tibetan Refugee Centre is known for the Tibetan wool and silk, tangkhas, and bronze, copper, silver and even gold artefacts. The Tibetan Refugee Centre, Hayden Hall and Third Eye are good for Tibetan carpets.

Climate - A Fuel To Romance

Darjeeling experiences temperate climate with five distinct seasons - summer, winter, spring , monsoons and autumn. The summers are mild with the temperature rarely crossing 25 degree Celsius. The winter is very cold with frequent hailstorms and occasional snowfall and the temperature varies from 5-7 degree Celsius.
