Set amidst hills carpeted with tea, orange and cardamom plantations, Mirik is stunning, youngest and most sought after hill station of India. It came in prominence during the 1980's. This peaceful and tranquil hill resort of Mirik boasts of several nature spots. The wild flowers , lovely lake and flourishing forests of Cryptomaria Japanica tress transforms Mirik in to a tropical paradise. The captivating beauty of this hill station leaves a rejuvenating effect of an urban tired soul.

See & Do

Sumendu Lake - It is one of the most popular tourist spots in Mirik. This is a man made lake enveloped in a forested ridge. The lake is adorned by the flower garden and a floating fountain. The backdrop of the lake offers the wondrous vista of the Kanchenjungha and other Himalayan peaks. The lake of Sumendu is considered ideal for boating and fishing.

Devi Sthan - Near Sumendu Lake there is a temple of Singha Devi or the Devi Sthan. This temple is a must see for all the tourists. If you move to the other side of the lake you may pray to Hanuman, Shiva and Kalimata in the temples dedicated to them.

Deosi Dara - In order to catch some vistas of the plains , hills and peaks one must make a visit to this vintage point of Deosi Dara. .

Rameetay Dara - This is ideal for watching the spectacular sunset and the sunrise besides the mountains and plains of Mirik.

Rai Dhap - While in Mirik you may even picnic at the spot of Rai Dhap. Rai Dhap has a small lake that is the source of potable water in Mirik.

Tea Estates and Orchards - Mirik is almost completely surrounded by some of the best tea gardens of the region. It is also the largest producer of oranges in West Bengal. The orchards are on a spur two kilometres from Mirik.

Take A Break

Dudhia - This place lies at a distance of 30 km from Mirik and is an ideal picnic spot. The beauty of this place attracts several nature lovers.

Trekking - All the adventure enthusiasts get set and go, because Mirik offers the trekkers ideal trek routes. Trekking from Mirik to Sandakphu, Phalut has become very popular. Short trek from Mirik to Kurseong via Balasan river & Namsu could be covered within the day onlyfrom Mirik to Sandakphu, Phalut, Kurseong via Balasan River and Namsu.

Go Shopping

Mirik is not a perfect shopper's destination. However it is famous for its tea, cardamom and orange plantations. One can take away refreshing packets of tea from Mirik. One can also buy thangkas and brass statues from here.

The Changing Wind

Mirik has an invigorating climate that welcomes tourists all the year round. The summer temperature rarely crosses 30 degree C and mostly remains at 29 degree C. The winters are cool with a temperature of 13 degree C. June to August sees rainfall.
