Finance Minister P Chidambaram presented the Union Budget 2008-09 before
the nation this February. Keeping in mind the hardship faced by the common
men, women and farmers, the finance minister gave the relaxation of 60,000
crore rupees to in-debt farmers. Apart from common people, tourism industry
people also got a number of gifts from the finance minister.
Rail Budget 2008-2009
The Ministry of Railways presents a rail budget every year which is
separate from the General Budget of India. The railway budget is 15% of the
national budget and the practice of presenting the rail budget started way
back in 1924.
